The enquirer had an issue with trees and shrubs that had been cut down at their local train station, destroying the habitat of nesting birds, flowers and shrubs for insects. When they had asked the rail company to explain the reasons for this, they said it was for health and safety reasons that the vegetation needed to be trimmed back.

Whilst travelling on a train the enquirer was told that to take away his coffee it had to be in a paper bag. He was told it was due to health and safety.

Case 193 – Bowling alley refused to switch off “foul line” detection due to health and safety
At a children’s ten pin bowling birthday party the enquirer asked if the “foul line” detection could be switched off. It is possible to de-activate this detector, however the staff on duty refused to do so, saying that it was a matter of Health and Safety.
